The Story:
What complete joy it has been over the past four months to work on these paintings with my daughter.
The Cosmos series sparked several years ago when I painted an abstract piece for a friend. It reminded me of the heavens opening up, and I promised I would paint more one day. Into the painting journal the thought of the Cosmos went.
Later that summer, we reaped the rewards of wildflower seeds sown in a lowly ditch along the side of our house. The cosmos flowers fluttered in the wind and I noticed how ethereal they were and worthy of being painted. Into the idea book a different form of Cosmos went.
And then it struck me, maybe they are all part of the same concept. These beautiful cosmos blowing in the wind, leading heavenward, becoming a part of the tapestry of the sky... the Cosmos.
The Details:
Each piece was created with pencil and pan pastel on pan pastel paper. Each piece is signed and titled on the back, and varnished for protection.
